Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_nav_menus()

So you got yourself a brand new theme. You have uploaded the theme and activated it and now you get the following error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_nav_menus()
The reason why this happened is becuase your wordpress is running an older version.

So how do we fix this??

Open up your ftp client. If you dont have a client I like using FileZilla.
Fill in your FTP log in details. If you dont know what they are, contact your host and request your ftp login details.
Once you are logged in go to public_html -> wp-content -> themes.
Now look for the folder with the theme that you installed and delete that folder. Dont worry, we will be installing the theme again.
Go to your WordPress site and log into the admin area. You should have no problems doing it now as WordPress would have
reverted back to an old theme.
The fisrt thing to do now is to backup your site. I like using WP DBmanager - you can read here how to install and backup your site.
Once the site has been backup, we can do a WordPress Upgrade.
Once WordPress has been updated, upload you theme again and active. There should be no problems this time round.
